The ancestors of ethnic Hungarians were the Magyar tribes who arrived in the Carpathians in 896. The capital, Budapest, originated from the union of the cities of Buda and Pest. It extends on both banks of the Danube, and is rich in history and culture and renowned for its thermal baths. Hungary is a country rooted musical tradition. Great composers such as Liszt, Bartók and Kodály were inspired in popular music.
